On February 21, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) notified the WTO of adopted MRLs for chlorothalonil, clethodim, and acequinocyl.

Individual changes can be viewed in the linked WTO notices. The amended MRLs will be available in the Global MRL Database on February 22, 2019.

On February 18, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published draft amendments proposing changes for cymoxanil, spinetoram, azoxystrobin, and famoxadone (links in Portuguese).

Comments on these proposed revisions must be received by March 19, 2019. Relevant proposed MRLs are currently displaying in the Global MRL Database.

The California Specialty Crops Council (CSCC) will hold its fourteenth annual MRL Harmonization Workshop May 29-30 in San Francisco. The interactive seminar based on MRLs will address critically important issues for stakeholders with interests in exporting agricultural products. Registrants, growers, packers, shippers, PCAs, regulators, trade experts, and other stakeholders in international trade are encouraged to attend.

Presentation topics include: international trade trends, global registrations, pesticide residue monitoring, MRL strategies for growers, updates for international residue standards, global MRL challenges, and research reports regarding the impacts of residues. Jochen Riehle, a food chemist with Eurofins will kick off the conference discussing, “The European Commission Is Taking Action On Endocrine Disruptors – What Could This Really Mean For The Market?” Julia Doherty from the US Trade Representative will discuss “EU Pesticide Policies: The Trade Perspective.” The program also includes international speakers from the South Korea, Taiwan, ASEAN, and Canada. 

The conference will be held at Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf, 555 North Point Street in San Francisco. On-line pre-registration is required by May 18. Meeting details, hotel information, and an updated agenda are available on the CSCC website. The early registration fee is $425 by March 15 and $475 after that date.

On February 15, the U.S. EPA established tolerances for residues of trifloxystrobin and trifluralin in or on various commodities.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received by April 16, 2019. The amended MRLs will be available in the Global MRL Database on February 16, 2019.

On February 13, Argentina updated the Argentinian Food Code through Resolución Conjunta 3/2019, Resolución Conjunta 4/2019, Resolución Conjunta 5/2019, Resolución Conjunta 6/2019, and Resolución Conjunta 7/2019.  All updates are effective from February 14, 2019.

Recently, Mexico’s Federal Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risk (COFEPRIS) published an amendment to Annex III and Annex VI of its food additive regulations. They are effective from January 29, 2019 and February 5, 2019 respectively.
