On May 22, 2013, Nursing Times published a report, “Is the rise in neurological deaths due to modern life?”  The report examines an article published by Mail Online about a recent scientific study.  The Mail article claimed that the study indicated food additives, technology, and air pollution are causing rising numbers of neurological disorders.  In fact, the study was merely an observational study, which may show how neurological deaths vary over time but cannot conclude the causes of these changing rates.  More research would be necessary before concluding that food additives contribute in any way to neurological disorders.
