On April 8, the European Union published Reg. (EU) 2017/671 in the EU Official Journal, amending MRLs for clothianidin and thiamethoxam in or on certain products.

Amended MRLs go into effect April 28, 2017. Relevant pending MRL changes will display in the Global MRL Database on April 11, 2016.

On November 20, the European Food Safety Authroity (EFSA) published submissions received following an open call for data on clothianidin, imidacloprid, and thiamethoxam applied as seed treatments and granules in the EU.

EFSA will review the submitted data (Appendix A) and provide conclusions in an updated risk assessment for bees.

On August 26, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published the following assessments confirming that neonicotinoid pesticides applied as foliar sprays pose a risk to bees:

EFSA has initiated a call for national authorities, research institutions, industry, and other interested parties to submit new relevant information regarding the risks posed to bees by the three neonicotinoids applied as seed treatment and granules. The submission deadline is September 30, 2015.
