On June 26, the European Union (EU) published MRL amendment Commission Regulation (EU) No 703/2014 in the EU Official Journal. This regulation includes MRLs for acibenzolar-S-methyl, ethoxyquin, flusilazole, isoxaflutole, molinate, propoxycarbazone, pyraflufen-ethyl, quinoclamine, and warfarin in or on certain products.

Further details, including MRL tables, may be found via the linked Official Journal document. MRLs in this regulation will apply starting January 16, 2015, and relevant regulatory changes will appear in www.mrldatabase.com at that time.

On January 21, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) published an amendment (in Japanese) to their national MRL standard. This amendment includes MRL changes for ethoxyquin.

MRLs that are newly-added or revised to a less restrictive level have entered into force. For MRLs changing to a more restrictive level, Japan is implementing a six month grace period. These changes will go into effect in July 2014.

Relevant changes will appear in www.mrldatabase.com tomorrow.

The European Union recently notified the WTO of draft MRLs for the active ingredients acibenzolar-S-methyl, ethoxyquin, flusilazole, isoxaflutole, molinate, propoxycarbazone, pyraflufen-ethyl, quinoclamine, and warfarin.

The EU is proposing to adopt these changes in May 2014. Comments are due by February 11, 2014.

May 21, 2013, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published Reasoned opinion on the review of the existing MRLs for ethoxyquin. EFSA concluded that the MRLs assessed were not adequately supported by data, identifying a possible risk to consumers.
