This week, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Service published a report on neonicotinoid insecticides to be banned in France from September 2018. The report discusses the potential impact of the bill France adopted in July 2016 that bans the use of neonicotinoid insecticides in an effort to mitigate alleged risks to pollinators.

On January 28, 2014, France's Ministry of the Economy, Finance, and Foreign Trade notified the WTO of a draft regulation on the use of processing aids in manufacturing certain food.  The proposal, which is only available in French, would amend a previous regulation from October 2006.  The comment period ends in 60 days, and the proposed date of adoption is June 1, 2014.

France's food additive use regulations are included in the International Food Additive Database as part of the European Union, but processing aids typically do not fall within the scope of the database.

On July 19, 2013, France notified the WTO of a proposed amendment, "Order amending the Order of 19 October 2006 on the use of processing aids in the manufacture of certain foodstuffs.”  The proposal revises the conditions of use for sodium hypochlorite and two enzymes.  The final date for comments is September 17, 2013. The document is available only in French.

France's food additive use regulations are included in the International Food Additive Database as part of the European Union.  However, processing aids and enzymes typically do not fall within the scope of the database.

On February 25, 2013, France notified the WTO of the draft "Order amending the Order of 19 October 2006 on the use of processing aids in the manufacture of certain foodstuffs".  The draft would authorize the use of six enzymes and amend the conditions of use for one enzyme.  The final date for comments is May 1, 2013.

France's food additive use regulations are included in the International Food Additive Database as part of the European Union.  However, processing aids typically do not fall within the scope of the database.
