On May 23, the Kenya Bureau of Standards notified the WTO of draft specifications for herbal and fruit infusions, orthodox tea, and purple tea. MRLs from these proposals align with those established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

Comments should be received by June 5, 2017. MRLs from these proposals will display in the Global MRL Database on May 24, 2017.

This week, the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Service published Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) Country Reports for the following countries:

Information on pesticides and other contaminants is included in Section III for Romania and Austria, Section IV for Kenya, and Section V for the other markets. The Global MRL Database currently displays relevant established and proposed MRLs for these markets.

Comments are due by December 30, 2016 on all standards except for instant coffee which is due by December 31, 2016.

Information on food additive regulations are included.

BCI's International Food Additive Database includes food additive use regulations for over 800 additives and 60 markets, including India, Costa Rica (Central American Customs Union), and the European Union. Please contact us for information on subscribing.

On November 11, 2013, the Kenya Bureau of Standards notified the WTO of proposed specification standards for Processed cheese, Fermented milk, Edible ices and ice mixes, and Formulated complementary foods for older infants and young children, which may contain food additive information.  The final date for comments is December 30, 2013.  The regulations will enter into effect upon publication in the Kenya Gazette.

Kenya is not currently included in the International Food Additive Database, but is being considered for future inclusion.
