On November 27, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau of the Government of Macau Special Administrative Region notified the WTO of its publication of Administrative Regulation No. 30/2017 (Portuguese and Chinese) regarding food coloring. It is effective as of November 14, 2017.

The 2017 version of Codex Standard 192-1995, General Standard for Food Additives (GSFA), has been published, incorporating revisions adopted at this year’s Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) meeting.

On May 16, Switzerland notified the WTO of new food additive legislation. The new Swiss legislation can be found on the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) website. All regulations enter into force May 1, 2017.

On January 17, Thailand's Ministry of Public Health notified the WTO of the adoption of regulation MOPH No. 381 regarding Food Additives (No. 4) originally proposed in January 2016.  The official date of entry into force is December 21, 2016.

Recently, South Africa's Department of Health published “Regulations Relating to Miscellaneous Additives in Foodstuffs.” This regulation contains food additive permissions and repeals certain regulations currently in force. The regulation enters into force November 17, 2017.

On November 24, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) operationalized regulation F.No. 1-4/Nutraceuticals/FSSAI-2003 regarding standards for health supplements, nutraceuticals, food for special dietary use, food for special medical purpose, functional food, and novel food. The regulation is operational from its date of publication.

On November 4, Brazil’s Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published resolution RDC No. 123 on the use of food additives in wine.  The resolution is available in Portuguese.

On September 26, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) published updates to its List of Designated Additives and Standards of Use for Food Additives. Both documents are part of the framework for Japan's food additive regulations.

On September 20, Paraguay notified the WTO of the adoption of a regulation regarding table-top sweeteners or sweetening agents containing stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) originally proposed in January. This regulation contains information on food additives.

China's new comprehensive food additive regulation, the National Food Safety Standard for Food Additive Use (GB 2760-2014), went into effect on May 24, 2015.  After being under consultation for two years, this new version was published on December 24, 2014 and replaces the comprehensive 2010 version.   

The updated regulation is in the process of being entered into the International Food Additive Database
