On January 24, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare published a proposal to amend numerous MRLs for pesticides and veterinary drugs. Comments on these proposals are due by February 7, 2017. Any proposals containing MRL decreases will likely be announced to the WTO in the coming months.

Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database by February 2, 2017.

On August 9, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare published a proposal to amend numerous MRLs for pesticides and veterinary drugs. Comments on these proposals are due by August 23, 2016. Any proposals containing MRL decreases will likely be announced to the WTO in the coming months.

Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on August 11, 2016.

On July 11, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a reasoned opinion on the modification of the existing MRL for prohexadione-calcium in strawberries and a conclusion on the peer review of the pesticide risk assessment of the active substance linuron.

Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on July 12, 2016.

On July 4, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published amendments for thiophanate-methyl, flumioxazin, fosetyl, Bacillus firmus, Pasteuria nishizawae, S-metolachlor, spinetoram, cyproconazole, prohexadione-calcium, Melaleuca alternifolia, fluazinam, lufenuron, diflubenzuron, atrazine, chlorothalonil, imazethapyr, azoxystrobin, tebuconazole, metsulfuron-methyl, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, zeta-cypermethrin, imibenconazole, bifenthrin, etofenprox, trifloxystrobin, and difenoconazole.

MRL changes from these amendments will be entered in the Global MRL Database in the next few days.

On May 31, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published draft amendments proposing changes for the following active ingredients (in Portuguese): thiophanate-methyl, flumioxazin, fosetyl, Bacillus firmus, trifloxystrobin, Pasteuria nishizawae, S-metolachlor, spinetoram, cyproconazole, prohexadione-calcium, Melaleuca alternifolia, fluazinam, lufenuron, diflubenzuron, atrazine, chlorothalonil, imazethapyr, azoxystrobin, difenoconazole, tebuconazole, metsulfuron-methyl, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, zeta-cypermethrin, imibenconazole, bifenthrin, and etofenprox.

Comments on these proposals must be submitted by June 26, 2016. Relevant proposed MRLs will show in the Global MRL Database by Thursday.

Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently notified the WTO of adopted MRLs for the following active ingredients:

• Quizalofop-ethyl
• Prohexadione calcium
• S-metolachlor

Individual changes may be viewed in the linked WTO notice. Relevant MRL changes will appear in the Global MRL Database tomorrow.

Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently notified the WTO of adopted MRLs for the following active ingredients:

• Prohexadione calcium
• Sethoxydim
• Quizalofop-ethyl

Individual changes may be viewed in the linked WTO notices. Relevant MRL changes will be made to Global MRL Database.

On December 7, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposed MRLs for prohexadione calcium MRLs in or on commodities in crop subgroup 12-09A (cherries).

PMRA will accept comments on these proposed MRLs through February 20, 2016. Relevant proposed MRLs will be added to Global MRL Database.

On September 10, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposed MRLs for the following active ingredients:

• Prohexadione calcium
• Sethoxydim
• Quizalofop-ethyl

PMRA will accept comments on these proposed MRLs through November 24, 2015. Relevant proposed MRLs will be added to Global MRL Database.

On June 6, 2013, The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu notified the WTO of a draft amendment to the Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods.  The proposal affects acibenzolar-S-methyl, alanycarb, chlorpyrifos, difenoconazole, diuron, fenpropathrin, fluoroimide, flutriafol, imidacloprid, oxyfluorfen, prohexadione calcium, quinclorac, spinetoram, and spinosad. The final date for comments is August 5, 2013.
