On March 15, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) opened a public consultation on the active substance thiram. Comments on the rapporteur Member State's assessment reports must be sent to EFSA by May 15, 2016.

The European Union's thiram MRLs currently display in the Global MRL Database.

On June 19, the U.S. EPA established a tolerance for residues of thiram in or on avocado. Objections and requests for hearings must be received by August 18, 2015.

This MRL change will be added to Global MRL Database.

On October 21, the Australia Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) published Gazette No. 21 – 21 October 2014. Pages 10-12 of the gazette list proposed amendments to MRLs on various commodities. Pages 17-18 of outline established MRLs for several pesticides on various commodities, amending Australia's Standard 1.4.2.

Comments on proposed MRLs must be submitted by November 18, 2014, and relevant established MRLs will be reflected in MRL Database

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently published a final rule on MRLs for metiram and thiram. In addition, expired tolerances for mancozeb and maneb are being removed.

This regulation is effective November 14, 2014; objections and requests for hearings must be received on or before July 14, 2014.

This week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established MRLs for the active ingredients clomazone, propiconazole, forchlorfenuron, metaflumizone, proquinazid, imazapic, and thiram. Objections and requests for hearings must be received by June 2, 2014 for clomazone, propiconazole, and forchlorfenuron; and by June 3, 2014 for metaflumizone, proquinazid, imazapic, and thiram.

Relevant changes will appear in www.mrldatabase.com early next week.

On February 25, the U.S. EPA published a notice of applications received for new and revised MRLs. Pesticide petitions have been submitted for metrafenone, boscalid, pyraclostrobin, metaldehyde, saflufenacil, tebuconazole, thiram, and abamectin. Comments must be received on or before March 27, 2014.
