Recently, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) notified the WTO of proposed MRL changes for buprofezin, fipronil, EPN, and fluthiacet-methyl, as well as a number of MRL withdrawals.

The final date for comments on buprofezin, fipronil, EPN, and fluthiacet-methyl is October 3, 2017. The final date for comments on the MRL withdrawals is October 6, 2017. Relevant MRLs will be added to the Global MRL Database after they are established.

On July 10, the U.S. EPA established a tolerance for residues of buprofezin in or on rice grain.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received by September 8, 2017. The amended MRL will be available in the Global MRL Database on July 11, 2017.

On June 2, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare published a proposal to amend numerous MRLs for pesticides and veterinary drugs in addition to proposing the withdrawal of MRLs for 56 pesticides and veterinary drugs. Comments on these proposals are due by June 15, 2017. Any proposals containing MRL decreases will likely be announced to the WTO in the coming months.

Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database by June 7, 2017.

On June 2, the Australia Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) published Gazette No. 11 – 2 June 2015. Pages 7-8 of the gazette outline established pesticide MRLs for various commodities, amending Australia's Standard 1.4.2.

Relevant MRL changes will be added to Global MRL Database.

On August 26, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority published Gazette No. APVMA 17. The gazette contains variations to Standards 1.4.2 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, Australia's international MRL regulation.

MRL changes are made for blueberries, pulses, potato, rape seed, strawberry, celery, poppy seed, and animal products.

New and increased MRLs took effect immediately, while lowered and deleted MRLs will take effect on February 7, 2015.
