On January 1, 2017, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) is implementing the first phase of their transition to a positive list system (PLS). The new PLS eliminates the deferral to Codex MRLs and the complex decision tree Korea has used to derive MRLs in cases where there is neither a national MRL nor a Codex MRL established. In addition, a default tolerance of 0.01 ppm has been set.
The first phase of this transition affects nuts, oilseeds, and tropical fruits. Other commodities will not be affected until phase two in December 2018.
GlobalMRL.com has been adjusted to show the new MRL values for nuts, oilseeds, and tropical fruits.
