On August 18, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) notified the WTO of a draft MRL amendment, proposing numerous MRL changes.

Comments are due by October 16, 2017. Relevant proposed MRL changes will be added to the Global MRL Database over the next few weeks.

On August 16, the U.S. EPA established a tolerance for residues of prothioconazole in or on Sunflower subgroup 20B.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received by October 16, 2017. The amended MRLs will be available in the Global MRL Database on August 17, 2017.

On July 15, the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service published a Food and Agricultural Import Regulations Standards (FAIRS) Country Report for Portugal.

Information on pesticides and other contaminants is included in Section III of the report. Portugal's relevant established and proposed MRLs are available in the Global MRL Database.

This week, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) notified the WTO of adopted MRLs for quizalofop-ethyl, isofetamid, and napropamide-M.

Individual changes may be viewed in the linked WTO notices. The amended MRLs will be available in the Global MRL Database on August 16, 2017.

On August 7, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) posted Notice No. 2017-289 and Notice No. 2017-290 (links in Korean) proposing revisions to their food regulations, including extensive MRL changes.

Comments on these proposals must be submitted by October 10, 2017. Relevant proposed MRLs will appear in the Global MRL Database in the coming weeks.

Recently, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) notified the WTO of proposed MRL changes for buprofezin, fipronil, EPN, and fluthiacet-methyl, as well as a number of MRL withdrawals.

The final date for comments on buprofezin, fipronil, EPN, and fluthiacet-methyl is October 3, 2017. The final date for comments on the MRL withdrawals is October 6, 2017. Relevant MRLs will be added to the Global MRL Database after they are established.

On July 28, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) announced proposed MRL changes for cyanazine, flometoquin, mandipropamid, dinotefuran, gamithromycin, and tiamulin. These changes were reported via the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service. 

Comments are due to the Embassy by August 14, 2017. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database over the next week.

On August 7, Costa Rica's State Phytosanitary Service (SFE) published an updated list of MRLs adopted by Costa Rica. The MRLs in the list are applicable to domestic and imported products and are updated periodically throughout the year.

Adopted MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on August 9, 2017.

On August 8, the Australia Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) published Gazette No. 16 – 8 August 2017. Pages 20-22 of the gazette list draft MRLs and pages 26-27 list amendments to MRLs for pesticides in various commodities.

Comments on the draft MRLs must be submitted to APVMA by September 5, 2017. Relevant proposed and amended MRLs will appear in the Global MRL Database on August 9, 2017.
