On November 22, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposed MRLs for novaluron and metaldehyde in or on various commodities.

PMRA will accept comments on the proposed MRLs through February 5, 2019. The proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on November 27, 2018.

On October 2, the European Union published Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1777 amending MRLs for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain FZB24, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain MBI 600, clayed charcoal, dichlorprop-P, ethephon, etridiazole, flonicamid, fluazifop-P, hydrogen peroxide, metaldehyde, penconazole, spinetoram, tau-fluvalinate and Urtica spp. in or on certain products.

Amended MRLs go into effect October 22, 2017. Relevant pending MRL changes will display in the Global MRL Database on October 2, 2017.

On July 13, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) announced proposed MRL changes for DCIP, Triforine, Pyraclostrobin, Pyribencarb, Fenquinotrione, Fosetyl-aluminum, and Metaldehyde. In addition, MHLW also proposed the withdrawal of MRLs for 25 agricultural and veterinary chemicals. These changes were reported via the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service. 

Comments are due to the Embassy by July 17, 2017. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database over the next week.

On May 24, Denmark's Høringsportalen posted draft MRL amendments under consideration by the European Union's Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed. These include:

  • SANTE/10656/2016 Rev. 1Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain FZB24, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain MBI 600, Beauveria bassiana strain NPP111B005, Beauveria bassiana strain 147, clayed charcoal, cyclaniliprole, dichlorprop, ethephon, etridiazole, flonicamid, fluazifop-P, hydrogen peroxide, metaldehyde, penconazole, spinetoram, tau-fluvalinate and Urtica spp.
  • SANTE/11706/2016 Rev. 2: fenpropidin and pymetrozine

 Relevant proposed MRLs have been added to the Global MRL Database.

On March 22, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a reasoned opinion on the modification of the existing MRL for metaldehyde in leek.

Proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on March 23, 2017.

On October 18, the U.S. EPA established tolerances for residues of metaldehyde in or on multiple commodities.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received by December 19, 2016. The amended MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on October 19, 2016.

On September 9, the U.S. EPA announced the receipt of several initial filings of pesticide petitions requesting the establishment or modification of regulations for residues of pesticide chemicals in or on various commodities.

Comments on petitioned-for tolerances must be received by October 9, 2015, and relevant proposed MRLs will be added to Global MRL Database.

The European Union recently published MRL amendment Commission Regulation (EU) No 737/2014 in the EU Official Journal. This regulation includes MRLs for 2-phenylphenol, chlormequat, cyflufenamid, cyfluthrin, dicamba, fluopicolide, flutriafol, fosetyl, indoxacarb, isoprothiolane, mandipropamid, metaldehyde, metconazole, phosmet, picloram, propyzamide, pyriproxyfen, saflufenacil, spinosad, and trifloxystrobin in or on certain products.

Further details, including MRL tables, may be found via the linked Official Journal document. MRLs in this regulation will apply starting July 30, 2014, and will appear in the MRL Database at that time.
