Employer contributions are fully vested after six years. For Seattle staff, the company also provides a transportation subsidy to offset parking or public transportation charges. Parking is free at BCI's Sacramento office.
BCI also believes in investing in its employees. The company sets aside an annual training budget and encourages staff to use it for courses, training, or conference participation that would improve their skills or efficiencies.
In their tenth year, employees receive an additional three weeks of paid vacation and a $5,000 stipend with restrictions that the three weeks must be used consecutively and that a portion of the time must be spent in a foreign country. The point is simple. Employees who understand other cultures and who have spent time in other countries will better understand our business, our clients, and the needs of their customers. To date, five employees have secured this benefit and have taken their “sabbaticals” in Spain, Croatia, Turkey, Iran, and even North Korea.
Each semester/quarter, BCI accepts applications for two market/policy research intern positions. Interns are expected to commit at least 12 hours per week, but we are flexible when coordinating with your class schedule.
These paid positions are competitive; interns are given substantive work, gain exposure to international trade issues, and gain experience in working in a professional office setting. Upon successful completion of an internship, interns are provided with interview training and letters of recommendation, if appropriate.
Our Seattle office is now accepting applications through September 9, 2016 for the Fall quarter/semester. To apply for an internship in our Seattle office, please send a cover letter, resume, and 1-2 page writing sample, preferably on an international topic. An excerpt from a previous class paper is acceptable.
