Market Development Assistant

BCI is currently accepting resumes for an international market development assistant in its Seattle office. The selected candidate will assist BCI market development managers with guiding clients’ international marketing efforts, including their participation in United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) export assistance programs. BCI's clients conduct a wide range of marketing activities -- such as trade shows, technical seminars, retail promotions, and social media campaigns -- in countries around the world. This work requires (1) outstanding writing skills and attention to detail; (2) a strong strategic mindset to help guide and support export growth for U.S. agriculture/food/beverage products; (3) the ability to gain the trust of the BCI team and clients through demonstrated work quality.

Duties associated with the position include:

  • program management
  • grant writing
  • research
  • strategic planning
  • preparation of reports and client presentations
  • financial administration

Candidates must possess very strong writing and organizational skills.  In addition, candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, and be able to simultaneously manage multiple projects.  Over time, domestic and international travel may be a component of this position.

A college degree is required, with a preference for degrees in international business, economics, public policy, or international relations. Foreign language fluency will be looked upon favorably. Much of BCI’s international marketing client work is funded by federal and state grant programs including USDA’s Market Access Program, Emerging Markets Program, Value-Added Producer Grant program, and state block grants. Familiarity with grant writing is a plus.
