On January 31, Singapore published an amendment to its food additive regulations. This amendment was first proposed in September 2018. It is effective from February 1, 2019.

On January 31, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) published Notice No. 2019-7 (link in Korean) revising their food regulations, including numerous MRL changes.

MRL changes from this amendment are currently displaying in the Global MRL Database.

On January 31, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published reasoned opinions on the modification or review of existing MRLs for sulfoxaflor, imidacloprid, and hexythiazox.

Proposed MRLs from these reasoned opinions will display in the Global MRL Database on February 1, 2019.

The European Union recently published a draft amendment regarding MRLs for aminopyralid, captan, cyazofamid, flutianil, kresoxim-methyl, lambda-cyhalothrin, mandipropamid, pyraclostrobin, spiromesifen, spirotetramat, teflubenzuron, and tetraconazole in various commodities.

Relevant proposed MRLs will be available in the Global MRL Database on January 31, 2019.

On January 30, the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan notified the WTO of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) proposal to update TR CU 029/2012 Safety Requirements for Food Additives, Flavorings and Technological Aids. Comments are due by March 31, 2019.

On January 29, the Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) published Gazette No. 2 - 29 January 2019. Pages 19-21 of the gazette list draft MRLs and page 26-28 list amendments to MRLs for pesticides in or on various commodities.

Comments on the draft MRLs must be submitted to the APVMA by February 26, 2019. Relevant proposed and amended MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on January 30, 2019.

On January 24, the European Union published the following Commission Regulations amending MRLs for several active substances:
  • Reg. (EU) 2019/88 regarding acetamiprid in or on certain products.
  • Reg. (EU) 2019/89 regarding bromadiolone, etofenprox, paclobutrazol, and penconazole in or on certain products.
  • Reg. (EU) 2019/90 regarding bromuconazole, carboxin, fenbutatin oxide, fenpyrazamine, and pyridaben in or on certain products.
  • Reg. (EU) 2019/91 regarding buprofezin, diflubenzuron, ethoxysulfuron, ioxynil, molinate, picoxystrobin, and tepraloxydim in or on certain products.

Amended MRLs will go into effect on August 13, 2019, except for acetamiprid in olives for oil production, table olives, barley, and oats, which go into effect on February 13, 2019. Relevant pending MRL changes will be available in the Global MRL Database by January 29, 2019.

On January 28, Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) published updated versions of its Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods and Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Animal Products.

Amended MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on January 29, 2019.
