On October 3, the U.S. EPA established tolerances for residues of furilazole in or on certain commodities.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received by December 2, 2019. The established MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on October 5, 2019.

From September 25-27, Sarah Gelpi and Pamela Araoz (of BCI’s Market Development team) attended the 8th annual Women in Agribusiness Summit (WIA) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

At the Summit, Sarah and Pam attended panels featuring the viewpoints of women leaders in varying roles within the Agribusiness sector, including U.S. State Commissioners of Agriculture, farmers and ranchers, and executives. The Summit also included breakout sessions and presentations on the latest international trade news, innovations in ag, industry outlooks and trends, and other forward-thinking topics facing agriculture.

On September 30,  Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposed MRLs for ethylene oxide in or on various commodities. 

Comments are due by December 14, 2019. Proposed MRLs are currently available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database.

On October 1, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published FSIS Directive 7120.1 Revision 52. This directive lists safe and suitable ingredients, including food additives, used in the production of meat, poultry, and egg products.

Recently, Japan's National Tax Agency published an amendment (in Japanese) to its list of substances that can be used for the preservation of alcoholic beverages.

On September 27, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) posted Notice 2019-450 (in Korean) proposing revisions to their food regulations, including MRL changes.

On September 26, the European Union published Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/1582 amending MRLs for imazalil in or on certain products.

Amended MRLs will be effective from April 16, 2020. Relevant pending MRL changes will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on September 28, 2019.
