The 42nd Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) was held from July 8-12, 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland. Codex, which is run jointly by the WHO and FAO, sets various guidelines to promote international food safety. Standards adopted by the CAC that contain updated food additive provisions are detailed in the report. These food additive revisions were recommended by the Codex Committee on Food Additives in April

On July 1, Indonesia’s National Agency of Drug and Food Control published a new food additive regulation. This regulation is effective from July 1, 2019 with a 24 month grace period for registered products.

On July 13, Turkey's Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Livestock published an amendment to its veterinary drug MRL standard.

On July 17, Chile’s Ministry of Health published a proposal to modify articles 494, 496, and 497 of its food additive regulations regarding infant formula. Comments are due by September 15, 2019.

On July 15, Argentina updated the Argentinian Food Code through Resolución Conjunta 23/2019 and Resolución Conjunta 24/2019. All updates are effective from July 16, 2019.

On July 16, the Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) published APVMA Gazette No. 14, 16 July 2019. Pages 25-27 of the gazette list amend MRLs for pesticides in or on various commodities.

On July 16, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a reasoned opinion on the review of the existing maximum residue levels for fluopicolide according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.
