On June 27, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare posted Food Safety Update 0627 No. 1 affecting numerous active ingredients.

Relevant MRL changes have been made to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database.

On June 28, the U.S. EPA announced the receipt of pesticide petitions to establish or modify MRLs for several active ingredients.

Comments must be received by July 29, 2019. MRLs from these proposals will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on July 2, 2019.

The U.S. EPA recently established tolerances for residues of ethiprolefluopyram, mefentrifluconazole, and valifenalate in various commodities.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received by August 27,2019 (ethiprole, mefentrifluconazole) and August 30, 2019 (fluopyram, valifenalate). The newly established MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on July 2, 2019.

On June 14, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) announced proposed MRL changes for amisulbrom, cyenopyrafen, cymoxanil, zoxamide, furametpyr, fluazinam, and gentamicin. These changes were reported via the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service.

Comments are due to the Embassy by June 27, 2019. Relevant proposed MRLs have been added to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database and BCGlobal Vet Drug MRL Database.

Recently, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published draft amendments proposing monograph changes for prohexadione-calcium, quizalofop-P-ethyl, teflubenzuron, flupyradifurone, and alpha-cypermethrin (links in Portuguese).

Comments on prohexadione-calcium must be received by August 19, 2019. Comments on quizalofop-P-ethyl, teflubenzuron, flupyradifurone, and alpha-cypermethrin must be received by August 26, 2019. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on June 27, 2019.

On June 18, Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) published an updated version of its Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods.

Relevant amended MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on June 26, 2019.

On June 21, the European Union published Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/1015 amending MRLs for aminopyralid, captan, cyazofamid, flutianil, kresoxim-methyl, lambda-cyhalothrin, mandipropamid, pyraclostrobin, spiromesifen, spirotetramat, teflubenzuron, and tetraconazole in or on certain products.

Amended MRLs will go into effect on July 11, 2019. Relevant pending MRL changes will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database starting June 26, 2019.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) recently published JMPR 2019 May Extraordinary: Summary Report, recommending MRLs that will be considered at the 2020 CCPR meeting to be held March 30 - April 4, 2020.

The Joint Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR) is the scientific committee that reviews MRL submissions to Codex and proposes new and revised MRLs for the CCPR to consider at its annual meeting.

Relevant proposed MRLs have been added to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database.

On June 20, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published an Administrative Assessment Report for Application A1181 concerning the proposed amendment of the current Schedule 20 MRL for imazapyr in barley. An Executive Summary was also published with the report. 

The proposed MRL will be available in the BCGlobal MRL Databases on June 25, 2019.
