Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) recently announced proposed MRL changes for several active ingredients. These changes were reported via the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service.

Relevant proposed MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on July 9, 2020.

On July 6, the U.S. EPA established tolerances for residues of S-metolachlor and oxathiapiprolin in or on various commodities.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received on or before September 4, 2020. The established MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on July 8, 2020.

On July 1, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published a food additive amendment  (in Portuguese). The amendment is effective from July 1, 2020.

On July 2, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a reasoned opinion on the review of the existing MRLs for amisulbrom in various crops and products of animal origin.

Proposed MRLs from this reasoned opinion will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on July 7, 2020.

Tamara Thorberg joined BCI in July 2020 as a member of the Market Development team. In her role, Tamara manages a number of client marketing accounts and is responsible for strategic planning, activity planning and implementation, researching/writing grant proposals, financial management, and more.

Prior to joining BCI, Tamara worked as a Tourism Manager in the International Tourism department at Visit Seattle - the official destination marketing organization for Seattle & King County. She was responsible for promoting Seattle as a world-class leisure destination in the Asia-Pacific markets. Tamara also served as an Events & Programs Manager at the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, where she organized trade missions to South America, Europe, and Asia.

Born in Japan, raised in Hawaii, and a dual citizen of Iceland and the United States, Tamara has a strong passion for international relations and travel. Tamara is a graduate of the University of Washington, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minor in International Studies. Tamara also studied at Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany.

Recently, the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service published Food and Agricultural Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) reports for Argentina and Colombia.

The BCGlobal Food Additive Database includes maximum use level regulations for over 850 additives in more than 70 countries worldwide, including Argentina. Please contact BCI for more information on subscribing.

The BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database and the BCGlobal Vet Drug MRL Database currently displays relevant established and proposed MRLs for Argentina and Colombia.

On June 29, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) published Notice 2020-264 and Notice 2020-265 (in Korean) proposing revisions to their food regulations, including numerous MRL changes.

Relevant proposed MRLs will be added to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database and BCGlobal Vet Drug MRL Database in the coming week.

On July 1, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published draft amendments proposing to revise the monographs for fluazinam, propiconazole, pyriproxyfen, famoxadone, lambda-cyhalothrinflutriafol, acetamiprid, spinetoramteflubenzuron, chlorantraniliprole, fluquinconazole, saccharomyces cerevisiae, dinotefuran, flupyradifurone, atrazine, mesotrione, diafenthiuron, quizalofop-P-ethylglyphosate, cymoxanil, tebuconazole, fenpropathrin, methomyl, allium sativum, tebuthiuron, fipronil, pirimiphos-methyl, novaluron, copper hydroxide, and oxyfluorfen (links in Portuguese).

Comments are due by August 29, 2020. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on July 2, 2020.
