The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) recently published JMPR 2019 May Extraordinary: Summary Report, recommending MRLs that will be considered at the 2020 CCPR meeting to be held March 30 - April 4, 2020.

The Joint Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR) is the scientific committee that reviews MRL submissions to Codex and proposes new and revised MRLs for the CCPR to consider at its annual meeting.

Relevant proposed MRLs have been added to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database.

On June 20, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published an Administrative Assessment Report for Application A1181 concerning the proposed amendment of the current Schedule 20 MRL for imazapyr in barley. An Executive Summary was also published with the report. 

The proposed MRL will be available in the BCGlobal MRL Databases on June 25, 2019.

On June 19, China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs notified the WTO of proposed MRLs. The draft standard includes 390 MRLs for 125 pesticides previously announced by the Ministry for domestic consultation in 2018.

Comments are due by August 18, 2019. Relevant proposed MRLs will be added to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database over the next few weeks, following translation and further analysis.

On June 10, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a reasoned opinion on the modification of the existing MRLs for emamectin in kiwi and peaches.

The proposed MRLs from this reasoned opinion will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on June 12, 2019.

On June 7, the U.S. EPA announced the receipt of pesticide petitions to establish or modify MRLs for several active ingredients.

Comments must be received by July 8, 2019. MRLs from these proposals will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on June 11, 2019.

On June 7, New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries published Proposals to Amend the Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds Food Notice December 2018. The proposal includes draft pesticide and veterinary drug MRLs.

Comments on these proposed MRLs must be received by August 6, 2019. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the BCGlobal MRL Databases by June 14, 2019.

On May 22, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published draft amendments proposing monograph changes for atrazine, mesotrione, laminarin, dinotefuran, fluopyram, bifenthrin, acetamiprid, etofenprox, lambda-cyhalothrin, flutriafol, and pyriproxyfen (links in Portuguese).

Comments on these proposed revisions must be received by July 20, 2019. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on June 7, 2019.

On May 30, Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare announced Draft of Standards for Veterinary Drug Residue Limits in Foods proposing MRLs for fluralaner (links in Chinese).

Comments must be submitted by July 29, 2019. The proposed MRLs will display in the BCGloabl Veterinary Drug MRL Database on June 5, 2019.
