On July 11, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a final rule updating and standardizing the U.S. veterinary drug MRL regulation.

This amendment is effective September 9, 2019. Relevant changes will be added to the BCGlobal Vet Drug MRL Database in the coming months.

On June 7, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published FSIS Directive 7120.1 Revision 51. This directive lists safe and suitable ingredients, including food additives, used in the production of meat, poultry, and egg products.

On May 6, the U.S. EPA announced its receipt of a pesticide petition to modify the tolerance for glyphosate in oats.

Comments must be received by June 5, 2019. The MRL from this proposal will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on May 11, 2019.

On April 18, the U.S. FDA confirmed the effective date of December 4, 2018 of an amendment to its food additive regulations concerning synthetic iron oxides that was first published on November 1, 2018.

Macau, the Philippines, and Vietnam have been added to the Veterinary Drugs module in the Global MRL Database, and are able to be searched as of December 1, 2017. This brings the total number of markets available to 73.

Bryant Christie Inc. (BCI) will attend the 13th IUPAC International Congress of Pesticide Chemistry, held in San Francisco August 10–14, 2014. The event is expected to bring together over 1000 delegates from around the globe for presentations, symposiums, and interactive panel discussions.

BCI also has an active role in this year's IUPAC schedule. We are sponsoring the all-day symposium Stewardship, Regulation, and Outreach: International Trade, Food Safety, and Good Agricultural Practice on Monday, August 11.  Additionally, members of the BCI team have been invited to present on international trade issues in the agricultural industry. Presentations include:

  • Monday, August 11, 9:40am in the Yerba Buena Salon 12/13: James Christie, BCI's President and Managing Director, will be presenting on international market access challenges currently facing US agricultural commodities.
  • Tuesday, August 12, 1:00-3:00pm Poster Session in the Yerba Buena Salon 7/8: Kimberly Berry, BCI's Senior Manager of Regulatory Data Services, will co-host a poster session addressing the relevance of Codex MRL standards.
