On June 27, the European Union published Regulation (EU) 2017/1135 in the EU Official Journal, amending MRLs for dimethoate and omethoate in or on certain products. 

Amended MRLs go into effect January 17, 2018. Relevant pending MRL changes will display in the Global MRL Database on June 28, 2017.

On November 28, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a reasoned opinion on the prioritized review of the existing MRLs for dimethoate and omethoate according to Article 43 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.

Proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database on November 29, 2016.

On March 24, the Australia Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) published its residues and dietary risk assessment report on omethoate. Recommended MRL changes are included on pages 25-26 of the report.

Australia's established MRLs for omethoate currently appear in Global MRL Database. Proposed MRLs will be added to the database when the review of dimethoate is finalized and APVMA proposes MRL changes to cover the dimethoate only uses.

In addition to proposing MRL changes, the APVMA's Gazette No. 16 includes an amendment to Australia's international MRL standard.

The amendment revises MRLs for the following active ingredients: abamectin, bifenthrin, boscalid, chlorantraniliprole, chlorothalonil, dimethoate, fluazifop-butyl, fluazifop-p-butyl, glufosinate and glufosinate-ammonium, isoxaflutole, mandipropamid, penflufen, spinosad, terbuthylazine, and trifloxystrobin.

Relevant changes will be made to www.mrldatabase.com early next week.

On July 2, 2013, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published changes to Standard 1.4.2, Australia's maximum residue limit regulation.

Changes were made for the following active ingredients: bifenazate, cyflufenamid, dimethoate, fluazifop-butyl, fluazinam, fludioxonil, flutriafol, metalaxyl, metsulfuron-methyl, pyraclostrobin, spirotetramat, terbuthylazine, and triclopyr.

Relevant changes will appear in www.mrldatabase.com tomorrow.

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) recently published Gazette No. 10 - 21 May 2013

Included in the Gazette is a proposal to amend Australia's MRL standard affecting the following active ingredients: abamectin, bifenthrin, boscalid, chlorantraniliprole, chlorothalonil, dimethoate, fluazifop-butyl, fluazifop-p-butyl, glufosinate, isoxaflutole, mandipropamid, penflufen, spinosad, terbuthylazine and trifloxystrobin.

Comments may be submitted to APVMA by June 18.
