On June 29, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) published Notice 2020-264 and Notice 2020-265 (in Korean) proposing revisions to their food regulations, including numerous MRL changes.

Relevant proposed MRLs will be added to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database and BCGlobal Vet Drug MRL Database in the coming week.

On July 1, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published draft amendments proposing to revise the monographs for fluazinam, propiconazole, pyriproxyfen, famoxadone, lambda-cyhalothrinflutriafol, acetamiprid, spinetoramteflubenzuron, chlorantraniliprole, fluquinconazole, saccharomyces cerevisiae, dinotefuran, flupyradifurone, atrazine, mesotrione, diafenthiuron, quizalofop-P-ethylglyphosate, cymoxanil, tebuconazole, fenpropathrin, methomyl, allium sativum, tebuthiuron, fipronil, pirimiphos-methyl, novaluron, copper hydroxide, and oxyfluorfen (links in Portuguese).

Comments are due by August 29, 2020. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on July 2, 2020.

On June 30, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a scientific opinion on the re-evaluation of ascorbyl palmitate (E 304i) as a food additive.

Recently, the European Union published SANTE/10480/2020 Rev. 3, SANTE/12092/2019 Rev. 4, and SANTE/12558/2019 Rev. 3 to the European Commission Comitology Register, proposing MRLs for several active ingredients.

Melanie Barron joined BCI’s Sacramento office in June 2020 as the Accounting Manager. She manages BCI’s corporate finances including client financial accounting and audit preparation. She has over 18 years of corporate accounting.

Prior to joining BCI, Melanie worked in the Silicon Valley and Bay Area. She started her accounting career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP in the San Jose office and furthered her accounting background by joining other regional and local accounting firms. On June 23, Switzerland published a food additive amendment (in French). A provisional version of this amendment was published in May 2020. The amendment is effective from July 1, 2020.
