October 16, 2018

On October 12, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published an order authorizing the application of Codex MRLs for glyphosate in pulses for the purpose of import clearances.

These glyphosate MRLs will display in the  Global MRL Database on October 17, 2018.

April 17, 2017

On April 13, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare published a proposal to amend numerous MRLs for pesticides and veterinary drugs. Comments on these proposals are due by April 27, 2017. Any proposals containing MRL decreases will likely be announced to the WTO in the coming months.

Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the Global MRL Database by April 18, 2017.

On November 19, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published documents relating to its peer review of glyphosate. These include:

November 12, 2015

On November 12, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a conclusion on the peer review of the pesticide risk assessment of the active substance glyphosate.

EFSA also updated its toxicological profile for glyphosate, determining that glyphosate is unlikely to be a carcinogenic threat to humans. Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently notified the WTO of an adopted MRL for glyphosate.

The MRL change will be added to Global MRL Database.

October 21, 2014

On October 21, the Australia Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) published Gazette No. 21 – 21 October 2014. Pages 10-12 of the gazette list proposed amendments to MRLs on various commodities. Pages 17-18 of outline established MRLs for several pesticides on various commodities, amending Australia's Standard 1.4.2.

Comments on proposed MRLs must be submitted by November 18, 2014, and relevant established MRLs will be reflected in MRL Database

On October 15, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) proposed MRLs for the following active ingredients:

Comments must be submitted by December 29, 2014, with proposed MRLs not appearing in MRL Database until they are officially adopted by PMRA.

October 2, 2013

Effective October 2, the US EPA established MRL changes for the following active ingredients:

  • For glyphosate, the residue definition was revised for an existing canola seed MRL.
  • For methoxyfenozide, new MRLs were added for several commodity types. Additionally, several previously-established time-limited tolerances and permanent tolerances were removed, as they have been superseded by this amendment.
  • For sedaxane, MRLs were added for potato products.
  • Finally, changes were also made for methyl parathion. These revisions were made for clarity purposes only, removing previously-expired MRLs from the MRL legislation.

Relevant changes will appear in tomorrow.

On May 1, 2013, the US EPA published a final rule in the US Federal Register amending the MRL regulation for the active ingredient glyphosate. Objects and requests for hearing must be received on or before July 1.
