The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) has provided stakeholders with English translations of China's recent MRL proposals.
The first translation includes 1190 MRLs for 105 pesticides in foods. With this proposal, China aims to adopt MRLs established under the international Codex Alimentarius standard.
The second translation includes 122 MRLs for 90 pesticides in foods.
FAS also compiled a consolidated list of commodities and chemicals for which China is proposing MRLs in the two documents listed above. This may be useful for stakeholders wishing to submit comments before the close of the domestic comment period on December 19.
China typically notifies draft MRL changes to the WTO. An international comment period may open after the close of the domestic comment period.
Global MRL Database subscribers will be able to search on China's newly-published MRL proposals next week.
