On July 11, Uruguay's Ministry of Public Health notified the WTO of a draft food additive regulation. Uruguay is proposing to adopt a MERCOSUR regulation concerning the use of food additives in bread and biscuits. Comments are due by July 31, 2016.

On April 9, 2014, Uruguay's Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries notified the WTO of Decree No. 215/013, which prohibits the import, manufacture, sale, and use of carbadox and olaquindox.Â
