Aaron Y. Rabinowitz joined BCI’s Seattle office in October 2019 as an International Trade Policy Assistant.

As part of the Global Access team, Aaron works to open foreign markets for U.S. agricultural commodities, monitor trade policy issues, support BCI’s MRL monitoring systems, and address international agricultural policy concerns on behalf of BCI’s clients.

Prior to joining BCI, Aaron worked as a research writer at an economic intelligence firm in Washington, DC, and as a writer and rapporteur for the Project on Foresight and Democracy.

Aaron is a graduate of the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University with a Bachelor’s in International Affairs and a concentration in National Security Policy. As an undergraduate, Aaron was the captain of his university triathlon team, and in 2017 he competed on Team USA Triathlon at the 20th Maccabiah World Games in Israel.

On October 15, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published reasoned opinions on the modification of the existing MRLs for pyraclostrobin in sweet corn and on the evaluation of confirmatory data following the Article 12 review of cymoxanil and metazachlor.

Proposed MRLs from these reasoned opinions will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on October 16, 2019.

On October 11, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a reasoned opinion on the review of the existing MRLs for penflufen and a conclusion on the peer review of pydiflumetofen.

On October 11, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety published an amendment, in Korean, to the Korean Food Additives Code.

On October 10, the U.S. EPA established tolerances for residues of indaziflam in or on certain commodities.

Objections and requests for hearings must be received by December 9, 2019. The established MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on October 11, 2019.

On October 9, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published a Call for Submissions for Application A1181 concerning the proposed amendment of the current Schedule 20 MRL for imazapyr in barley. A Risk Assessment was also published. 

Comments are due by October 24, 2019. The proposed MRL is currently available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database.

On October 4, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published amendments to the monographs for clodinafop-propargyl, carbendazim, flutriafol, saflufenacil, trinexapac-ethyl, citrus sinensis essential oil, clethodim, imazethapyr, flumioxazin, Telonomus podisi, Hirsutella thompsonii, Bacillus amyloliquefaciensacibenzolar-S-methyl and fluazinam (links in Portuguese).

Updated MRLs from these amendments will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on October 10, 2019.
