On June 19, South Africa's Department of Health published an amendment (on page 24) to its regulations for preservatives and antioxidants.

On February 10, South Africa's Department of Health, Food Control Directorate published Regulations Governing the Maximum Limits for Pesticide Residues That May Be Present in Foodstuffs: Amendment, establishing numerous MRL changes for pesticides on various commodities.

Relevant amended MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database on February 27, 2020. Please note that due to South Africa’s deferral path for imported commodities, EU or Codex MRLs may display in lieu of national MRLs.

Recently, the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service published Food and Agricultural Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) reports for Myanmar, Pakistan, South Africa, and Ukraine

On April 18, South Africa's Department of Health, Food Control Directorate notified the WTO of a draft amendment to its Regulations governing the Maximum Limits for Pesticide Residues that may be present in Foodstuffs, proposing numerous MRL changes for pesticides on various commodities. Comments are due by June 17, 2017.

Changes from this proposal will be entered in the Global MRL Database by April 21, 2017. Please note that due to South Africa’s deferral path for imported commodities, EU or Codex MRLs may display in lieu of national MRLs.

On January 20, the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Service published Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) Country Reports for the following countries:

Information on pesticides and other contaminants is included in Section III for Japan and South Africa and in Section V for Hungary and Nicaragua. The Global MRL Database currently displays relevant established and proposed MRLs for these markets.

Recently, South Africa's Department of Health published “Regulations Relating to Miscellaneous Additives in Foodstuffs.” This regulation contains food additive permissions and repeals certain regulations currently in force. The regulation enters into force November 17, 2017.
