EU Amends MRLs

On April 20, the European Union published Commission Regulation (EU) 2021/644 amending MRLs for fluxapyroxad, hymexazol, metamitron, penflufen, and spirotetramat.

Amended MRLs will be effective from November 10, 2021. Relevant pending MRL changes will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database by April 23, 2021.

Great Britain Amends MRLs

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recently published the following amendments to Great Britain's MRLs:

Relevant MRL changes from these amendments will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database as Pending MRLs on April 22, 2021. The MRLs shall enter into force on the date as indicated in the GB MRL Statutory Register, once updated.

Recently, the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service published a Food and Agricultural Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) report for Haiti

The BCGlobal Food Additive Database includes maximum use level regulations for over 850 additives in more than 70 countries worldwide. Please contact BCI for more information on subscribing.

The BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database currently displays relevant established and proposed MRLs for Haiti.

Brazil Revises Pesticide Monographs

Recently, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published amendments to the monographs for fluazifop-P-butyl, carfentrazone-ethyl, beta-cyfluthrin, profenofos, flutriafol, cymoxanil, prothioconazole, zeta-cypermethrin, flupyradifurone, abscisic acid, propaquizafop, acetamiprid, glyphosate, metribuzin, S-metolachlor, spinetoram, methoxyfenozide, deltamethrin, trifluralin, mandipropamid, and tebuconazole

Relevant MRLs from these amendments are currently available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database.

Brazil Amends Vet Drug MRLs

On April 14, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) published an amendment to their vet drug regulations, adding MRLs for fluralaner.

Relevant MRLs from this amendment will be added to the BCGlobal Vet Drug MRL Database by April 15, 2021. The MRLs are effective May 3, 2021.

Amended MRLs will be effective from May 3, 2021 (Reg. 2021/590) and November 6, 2021 (Reg. 2021/616 and 2021/618). Relevant pending MRL changes will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database by April 17, 2021.

On April 12, New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries published Proposals to Amend the New Zealand (Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds) Food Notice - April 2021.

The comment deadline is June 11, 2021. Relevant proposed MRLs will display in the BCGlobal Pesticide and Vet Drug MRL Databases on April 13, 2021.

Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) recently announced proposed MRL changes for several active ingredients. These changes were reported via the United States Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service.

Relevant Proposed MRLs will be available in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database and BCGlobal Vet Drug Database by April 7, 2021.

China Announces New Pesticide MRL Standard

China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently announced (in Chinese) national pesticide MRL standard GB 2763-2021 which will replace China's current standard GB 2763-2019.

Standard GB 2763-2021 has not yet been made publicly available. Pending MRL changes from the new standard will be added as to the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database once made available.

China's new pesticide MRL standard GB 2763-2021 will go into effect in September 2021, six months from its date of issuance.

Korea Publishes MRL Amendment

On March 25, Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) published Notice No. 2021-26 (link in Korean) revising their food regulations, including numerous pesticide and veterinary drug MRL changes. Most MRL changes from this amendment are effective March 25, 2021. MRLs for pesticide residues in animal products will be effective July 1, 2021.

MRL changes from this amendment will appear in the BCGlobal Pesticide MRL Database and BCGlobal Vet Drug MRL Database in the coming weeks.
